Formed in 1977, BPED’s primary objective is to promote economic development in Burke County, North Carolina. BPED members are appointed by the Burke County Commissioners, the City of Morganton Council and the Town Councils of Valdese, Drexel, Rutherford College and Hildebran representing both public and private sectors. BPED meets regularly to discuss economic opportunities and decide positive directions for quality growth in Burke County.
